Your Design Day

Let's get to work! Here's what I need from you, and what you'll be getting from me.

What Is This?

(a scheduled Design Day is a requirement for website designs)

The hardest part of the website design process is communication and missing information. That's why we set aside a day specifically for you; you have our full attention, and we expect to be a priority for you.

By your design day, we need all the information listed below. On your Design Day, SMPL Design will create your basic website layout and design, get your initial feedback, and go from there!

You will need to be accessible via email or phone to answer any questions, provide verification codes (current host and website builder), give feedback, and approve the design. Setting a "due date" will speed up the design process by ten-fold (trust me).

1. What I Need: Overview

These items can be uploaded to the shared Google Drive Folder.

Your Logo

PDF, EPS or high res JPEG or PNG if possible.

Images and Videos

Current and/or new images and videos you’d like to use on the new site.

Content

Page content and any updated verbiage/information for the site.

Style Guide

Brand style guide, colors or any specific design requirements.

Current Site and Host Login

An administrator login to your current website builder AND website host.

Questionnaire Completed

This will be sent once you schedule your Design Day. It includes most of the information we need.

2. Google Drive

We use Google Drive to store and organize your images and content. If you have a Google Drive folder made already, share it with us. If not, use the one we share with you once you schedule your design day.

3. Design Day Questionnaire

This questionnaire should take 5-15 minutes and will tell us everything we need to know to start on your initial design. This will help the feedback process go much faster, and give us an idea of what your customers want to see on your website. The more details you leave us, the more successful our first design will be.

4. The Design Process

Designing a website, no matter how big or small, can be overwhelming. To better help you understand what to expect during the design and development, here's our basic 3 step process:

1. Layout and Design

A large and time consuming part of designing a website is in the planning and layout stage of the process. We'll create the sitemap (Page/Menu hierarchy) of the website for approval first, then design the home page and a sub page for approval.

2. Development

Once the site layout and design is approved, we move forward with the designing the entire site, adding all functionality. We’ll make sure your site looks great and functions nicely across all devices and web browsers before moving to the final step.

3. Edits & Revisions

Once the site is ready for final review, you’ll be able to review each page and we can make detailed edits until the site is revised completely. We ask that you please review all pages to make sure all spelling, grammar, addresses and information are correct before going live.

5. Scheduling Your Design Day

Choose a day that works for you. Keep in mind that you will need to be quickly available throughout this entire day. If we don't get all the info and approval we need to finish the initial design stage, we will be forced to reschedule and you will be charged our delay fee, as stated in our contract.

SEO isa long-term game.

First off, bots only crawl pages every so often. It usually takes hours (sometimes even days!) for a search engine to register the change was made.

From there, they have to decide whether or not your page is more relevant than another page, whether its on your own site or another site. All search engines want is to be the best search engine possible and give people the results they want, so that they continue to use that particular search engine.

Paid ads from other companies can also interfere with search engine results.

Finally, all algorithms work in a similar way. The more traffic a particular page (or post, like on social media) gets, the more the algorithm promote it. You can't expect fast results in organic SEO. The goal is to get slow and steady traffic, which will boost the way the search engine views your site, giving it more authority and a good reputation.
